Adjacent Projects

The study team is often asked why the MoPac Intersections wasn't combined with adjacent projects, the MoPac South Environmental Study and the SH 45SW. Each of these projects is included as a stand-alone project in the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's (CAMPO) Plan, and as such, is being or was studied separately by TxDOT and the Mobility Authority. Nonetheless, the study assumes all projects in the CAMPO Plan have been implemented.

In addition, each of these projects has independent utility, meaning each would benefit drivers and would be considered a reasonable expenditure, even if no additional transportation improvements in the area were made; therefore they are being studied independent of one another. If built, these projects could function as stand-alone improvements, even if other improvements in the area do not advance, or advance at a different schedule.
